Public Tours

Public tours are offered Sundays from April through October on the state's only riverboat. Learn about the region's history and the Blackstone River, view an abundance of wildlife (fish, swans, birds, deer, turtles) or fall foliage, or just enjoy a relaxing cruise on one of our country's most famous and scenic rivers.  The Explorer also hosts special events and educational programs and is available for charters.  Tour locations vary between Pawtucket, Central Falls and Woonsocket.  Tickets on sale now through Oct. 29 Rivertourblackstone Website  

Polar ExpressTM Train Ride

Step into the enchanted world of THE POLAR EXPRESSTM Train Ride as the conductor shouts, "All Aboard!" A family favorite becomes reality during this three hour event that includes a 90-minute train excursion, inspired by Chris Van Allsburg's Christmas classic. Join us for an experience unlike any other!   Meet and take photos with Santa and characters from the book, receive hot chocolate, cookies, a mug, coloring book and other treats. Blackstone Culinaria Food Tours

Go behind the scenes at some of Rhode Island's most unique and interesting restaurants to bring you a delicious dining experience! Join us as we explore and savor the rich ethnic restaurants of the Blackstone Valley and beyond! Each tour will give you the opportunity to learn the chef's culinary secrets with a demonstration and meal of their specialty dish. Leave your passport at home and let your palate travel the world of food throughout the Blackstone Valley! All tours are 6 - 8 pm unless otherwise indicated. Blackstone by Train Train Excursion

The Blackstone Valley Fall Foliage Train Excursion departs Woonsocket at 9 am for a scenic train trip through the Blackstone River Valley and arrives in Putnam at 11 am. You will have 3 1/2 hours to relax and enjoy the many antique and gift shops, Putnamís Annual Pumpkin Festival, a farmersí market and local restaurants.  The Train leaves Putnam at 2:30 pm for a 4:30 arrival back in Woonsocket.   Oct. 29!  Blackstone by Train info on


Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival

Since 2000, the festival has consisted of of dragon boat races for professional and amateur teams, along with many cultural and artistic events, including the always popular Chinese dumpling eating contest and watermelon eating contest, aimed at adults and children. Samuel Slater Canal Boat and Bed & Breakfast

A British overnight and cruising experience on the Blackstone River aboard this unique Bed & Breakfast. Built in Cambridgeshire, England by C. T. & P. Fox expressly for the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, the Samuel Slater is an authentic British canal boat, 40 feet long. The Samuel Slater is located on the Blackstone River. During this scenic 2 1/2 mile cruise, you'll observe watchable wildlife, such as swans, deer, great blue herons, turtles and more. Travelers aboard this amazing cruise are pleasantly surprised by the beauty and uniqueness that the river offers. Blackstone Valley Heritage Golf Tournament

Join over 100 regional business leaders each June for a relaxed tournament at one of Rhode Island's most beautiful golf courses - Crystal Lake Golf Course in Burrillville. 18 hole scramble format includes prizes, lunch, dinner, auction, and goodie bag. Blackstone Shop

Located in the Pawtucket Visitor Center, the shop features: Only licensed Polar Express merchandise, Polar Express and other event tickets, jewelry made by local artists, Rhode Island souveneirs, photos, prints, greeting cards by local artists, t-shirts, coffee, drinks and snacks. You may also purchase Polar Express merchandise online.

The Blackstone Shop is seeking your products to sell. We are seeking arts and crafts, jewelry, Rhode Island books, and certain winter clothing articles such as harts, scarves and gloves.
